Meeting And Art Challenge - Feb 2019

The next meeting of the Greenville Art League is Wednesday February 20 from 3 PM to 5 PM at the W. Walworth Harrison Library in Greenville Texas. Monica Lubiani will talk about her fused glass art.

Bring a work for the art challenge.  We will have a silent vote and the artist whose work gets the most votes will be "Artist Of The Month." This month's challenge is "Think Like Matisse." A description of the challenge follows.

Think like Mattise. When painting  and sculpture had become a physical challenge, Mattise turned to a new type of medium. He began creating  cut paper collages or decoupage. He would cut sheets of paper, pre-painted, and used them to form livelly composfitions. Try working in cardstock or construction paper. Assemble on a firm surface.

Greenville Art Market Feb 16

The Greenville Art Market will be Saturday February 16 from 10 AM to 2 PM at The Texan Theater, 2712 Lee Street, Greenville Texas 75401. The event will be held in the lobby of the Texan. Food and beverages will be available in the Texan coffee shop. Among the items offered will be oil paintings, acrylic paintings, mixed media, mosaic art, spray paint paintings, metal sculptures, large fine art photographic prints, handcrafted wood items, forged iron work, handcrafted crosses, divinely inspired t-shirts, jerseys and jewelry, kiln formed glass jewelry, ink prints and etchings, origami and hand ink cards, and handmade soaps tastefully wrapped in tulle. Items sold are personally produced or designed by the artist or artisan who is acting as the vendor. Participating artists and artisans include Mary Jane Morris, Samantha Espinoza, Monica Lubiani, Ben and Jessica Tucker, Allen Weekley, Jerry Geisler, Jeff Kirsch, Katie Rice, Josephine Rickman, Susan Hughes, Joetta Curie, and Stephani Shahan. Many of the vendors are members of the Greenville Art League. Art League President Allen Weekley stated “The Texan Theater is a beautiful facility and we are very fortunate to be offered this opportunity. Many thanks to Barbara Horan for making this space available, and to Rick Parent for suggesting it.“

It is predicted to be cool on Saturday. Join us indoors for the Greenville Art Market in the warm and cozy lobby of the beautiful Texan Theater. Stroll through the exhibits at your leisure, and enjoy food and beverages from the lobby coffee shop. See paintings from new artists, as well as artists and artisans returning from our previous Art Market events. All items will be hand made, or produced or designed by the vendor. Items for sale include acrylic paintings, mixed media, metal sculptures and jewelry, large fine art photographs, forged iron work, handcrafted crosses, fused glass items and jewelry, divinely inspired t-shirts, jerseys and jewelry, and ink prints and etchings.
