Meetings Suspended

In view of the current COVID-19 corona virus crisis, all regular meetings and all events of the Greenville Art a League are suspended until further notice. This includes our 2020 Annual Juried Art Show, and the planned show at the art gallery at Texas A&M Commerce. Our elections for new League officers are postponed until all “Stay At Home” directives are rescinded and we can resume our monthly meetings.

I hope you all are doing well during this trying time. I see from social media that many artists are finding ways to remain creative while staying at home. Please remain positive and show kindness whenever you can.

March Meeting Cancelled

The City Of Greenville has announced that the W. Walworth Harrison Public Library will be closed from March 16th through March 31st. The Greenville Art League therefore will not have a meeting in the month of March. The next meeting will be April 15th. We will have our election for the positions of President and Secretary at that meeting. We would normally accept nominations from the floor at our March meeting, but since that meeting is cancelled, if you are a member please send me your nominations via email to ArtLeagueGreenville@gmail.com. You may nominate any member for either position, including yourself if you wish to volunteer. The Board has nominated two members whom I have confirmed will serve if elected, Duncan Porter for President and Kathy Derby for Secretary.

Meeting February 2020

NOMINATING COMMITTEE

Per our Constitution a three person nominating committee is to be elected at the February meeting.
If you would like to volunteer for the committee, please let President Allen Weekley or one of our other officers know.

Elections for the positions of President and Secretary will be conducted in the April Meeting, so members please attend the February and April meetings if at all possible, to ensure that we have a quorum present for the nominating committee election and the vote on the new League officers.

MEETING LOCATION

The Greenville Art League will meet Wednesday February 19 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the W. Walworth Harrison library, 1 Lou Finney Land, Greenville, Texas.

ART DEMO

Our art demonstration for the February meeting will be by Patsy Seward, who will demonstrate painting an acrylic landscape of Caddo Lake.

ART CHALLENGE

Members and visitors are welcome to bring an art piece for the challenge.

In November we learned in a demonstration that drawing and value are two of the most common problems in art. This month, we will tackle drawing and see what we could learn to improve our drawings skills.
The challenge is . . .
1. Draw something you do on the weekends that makes you happy.
2. Use a single color. It can be black, white, or any color of the spectrum, but drawn with only a single color.
