January 2019 Meeting

The next meeting of the art league will feature a demonstration by artist Charlie Bullock, who will paint an oil portrait of Native American Thomas White. You may remember the article about Charlie Bullock that was in the Greenville Herald Banner. The article told about a large wall mural he painted in Dallas. Charlie is a versatile artist who is accomplished in many art forms, using diverse media to express his creative vision. His insights about observing a face of great character and translating it into a portrait should be of value to us all.

The theme for this month's art challenge is "Cut And Shuffle." All attendees are encouraged to bring artwork created as described below. A vote of everyone present determines the favorite, and the winner is designated “Artist Of The Month.”   #greenvilleartleague

Cut and Shuffle

This challenge is intended to get you looking at your artwork in a new way.
Work quickly with an adventurous spirit.
Create 2 NEW pieces on paper or other surface that is easy to cut or disassemble. Cut the 2 works into multiple parts, simply cut in even strips or into shapes and strips of varying sizes. Now reassemble 1 NEW piece using the different parts of the 2 works .
You may want to secure to a permanent surface, or adhere to each other without substructure.
Try to contrast the 2 pieces: realistic/abstract, warm/cool, etc.

The meeting is on January 16 2019 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the W. Walworth Harrison Library in Greenville Texas.
